RING is a mesmerizing contemporary dance work by choreographer Jenna Jalonen that reimagines the ancient tradition of circle dances from around the world. With a cast of dynamic performers, it’s an immersive exploration of rhythm, repetition, and togetherness.

Drawing inspiration from folk and communal dances like the Hungarian Karikázó, Jewish Hora, and Sufi Zikr, RING deconstructs these forms to reveal their shared essence. The dancers move in waves of pulsating unison and sudden fragmentation, capturing the tension between individuality and group, tradition and rebellion, control and freedom.

A tribute to the act of dancing together, RING invites audiences to witness and feel the power of community through movement, sound, and shared space.

PRAISE FOR

Ring
"The Ring is such an energy base. A spiraling force field kept in unwavering momentum by seven great dancers. Their dose of energy is ours too. Our recharge is their strength. Double success."
Csaba Králl, Rudolf Lában Award laudation
"They look at the (movement) tradition from the outside, almost from an observer status, and from this position they create something new, something different."
Csaba Králl, Élet és Irodalom
"One of the most divisive questions in our current society is how we nurture tradition. Jalonen nurtures it by absorbing it, rewriting it, reflecting on it."
