Food is an intimate dinner party performance that uses smell, taste, touch and audience instruction to feed a meditation on the ways and whys of eating. Why do you eat what you eat? Where does it come from? What does it really cost?

At the heart of Food is a table of soil, surrounded by audience members. The performance unfolds in, on, and under this soil. With his signature blend of precise design, theatrical illusion, and absurdist humour, Geoff Sobelle draws us into the mystery of the earth — the origin of all we consume.

From naked earth emerge fields of bison, taken over by wheat, dust, train lines, subdivisions, plantations, superstores… all growing from the ground just to deliver a forkful to the consumer.

PRAISE FOR

Food
"Actor, creator, magician and illusionist, Sobelle performs miracles."
phindie
"The show, and solo performer Sobelle, cycle through many wildly differing states, each one eliciting nervous gasps or giggles. I genuinely had to watch part of the show through the gaps in my fingers because I was so delighted/horrified at the same time."
Snack Mag
"In short, Geof Sobelle’s ‘FOOD’ is a sensational event, part meditation, part conjuration, and something you’ll talk about for weeks thereafter."
