Dee Mulrooney is an emerging Irish artist, living and working in Berlin. Raised working-class in a small nation dominated by Catholicism and men, she now lives as a teacher, a mother, and an artist discovering the joy of playing with taboos and visions of female identity that would until all to recently have seen her locked away. Her projects span visual art, film, storytelling and theatre. Her influences are a long list—basically any woman who ever did a damned thing worth doing.

Growler is Dee Mulrooney’s alter-ego, performance piece. She is an 82-year-old drum banging, shamanic alchemist, who transmutes women’s pain through storytelling, song and spoken word. She has a tongue like a lash and a heart of gold.

PRAISE FOR

Dee Mulrooney
"Go in with an open mind (and heart) and you will leave with a fresh perspective on life"
Broadway Baby
"The beauty of Growler is in its roughness, its erratic meandering, its refusal to be one thing or another. It has a sacred chaos of its own, in which Mulrooney thrives."
The List
"Growler is an elixir of truth in a seemingly lost world. It's a story about you – not her."
